When putting a jigsaw puzzle together, it's standard procedure to complete the outer frame first, then work your way in. With "Hunted," the framework of an excellent cooperative game is built, but the details are either missing or don't fit.
The main selling point of "Hunted" is its attempt at engaging cooperative play, a la "Army of Two," only without the assault rifles. You choose one of two heroes: Caddoc, a beefy grunt who excels in hack-and-slash combat; or E'lara, a sly vixen handy with the bow and arrow. You can play alone (artificial intelligence controls the other character), offline in splitscreen or online with a friend. The base gameplay of warriors teaming up to whip dragons, ghouls and legions of the undead is done well at its most basic level.
But details halt momentum from the outset. Technical glitches abound. Frame-rate hiccups, poor camera movement, game crashes, controller problems - these are just a few of the issues holding back this game. And that's a puzzle no one can solve.
