Planet S Staff Writers
Hey, Saskatoon — welcome to summer! Seriously, it’s about bloody time, isn’t it? Still, there should be no complaining when it gets here — let’s just get out and learn to love every part of this wacky, wonderful city of ours.
To that end, here are a few quick trips through five of Saskatoon’s most known neighbourhoods — with tips on what to see, where to eat and drink, and what to do in each area. Along with that, we’ve got some great stuff on movies, drinks, art and more.
So: get outside, go for a walk/ride/drive, and check them out! Have fun in the sun, Saskatoon — gawd knows we deserve it.
BROADWAY AVENUE
The Broadway area is synonymous with everything that gives Saskatoon its vibrant culture — our city’s gateway drug to live music, nightlife, dining and the arts scene. Broadway also houses a kaleidoscope of different tribes, including students, artists, activists, professionals — and, yes, a few sketchy creeps and weirdos. It’s also one of the best places in the city to enjoy a drink on a deck while soaking up some sun (which is why it’s also a place where you’ll often find Planet S staffers playing hooky from work).
SEE
If you’re looking for live music of any genre, Broadway is almost always your best bet. In addition to Amigos, Lydia’s, The Broadway Theatre, Bud’s and The Fez, the Cosmo Seniors’ Centre has long been hosting all-ages punk/indie shows, and benefits for the likes of CFCR and the We Are Many Festival. The Broadway Theatre is an institution, and over the past couple of years, midnight screenings of Z-grade horror films have given cinephiles a reason to slink out of their basement suites on a Friday night.
DO
One of the most popular Broadway attractions is the Fringe. Colourful, arty, romantic and hedonistic all at the same time, the Fringe Festival is the best time of the summer to come to the area. There are plenty of awesome (and sometimes hilariously not-awesome) theatrical productions to take in, live outdoor shows to soak up, artists and vendors to peruse and libations galore. Other notable summer awesomeness includes the Broadway Art Fair, which features plenty of local vendors.

Kelly Blue Book Motorcycles Tips and Tricks | Custom Motorcycle Parts
Is probably the most useful tool for helping buyers and sellers of motorcycles make the best decisions at a very difficult time (I can’t think of anything more stressful than having to sell your pride and joy, can you? ) Before I tell you about some useful strategies for using the Kelley blue book – motorcycles , let me tell you how the book came about……
HISTORY
In 1918, a young man named Les Kelley parked a couple of Model T Fords in an open lot, put $450 in the till and started the Kelley Kar Company. In time, it was to become one of the largest dealerships in the world and, along the way, created a need for being able to value used cars quickly and easily, known as “Blue Book values.” Les Kelley was the son of a preacher from Arkansas. He made his way across the US to California in 1914 at the age of 17. He had very little money and no job, but he owned an old car. (Old is probably being a little kind!) It was in good shape though because he had a mechanical aptitude and had overhauled it himself. All of his friends admired his car and frequently tried to buy it. After much persuasion he finally did sell it to one of them.
With the money he received from this deal Les bought another old Ford. After giving this car a thorough overhauling, he traded it off, taking in two used cars and a little money on the deal. He reconditioned these cars and sold them. With the money he bought other used automobiles and found himself making enough money to pay his way through college.
And in Los Angeles, Les Kelley decided to expand the list of automobile values he had been producing since 1918 and published the first Blue Book of Motor Car Values. He showed factory list price and cash value on thousands of vehicles, from Cadillacs to Duesenbergs, from Pierce-Arrows to Hupmobiles.
Les named the publication “Blue Book” after the Social Register, because it meant that you would find valuable information inside. From relativley small beginnings, the “Blue book” has grown into a huge info – publishing concern, with prices on almost anything that has wheels and a motor – including motorcycles!
