My Assassin's Creed Fan Cast

Now, with my casting choices I’ve tried to be as unique as possible, and have to admit I’ve mainly cast white actors to play the Middle Eastern characters, but this is quite simply because I don’t know any Middle Eastern actors, so figured if this franchise is brought to the big screen it’d be done like Prince of Persia , with white people getting tans… lol… Yeah, I know he was Dastan in Prince of Persia , and whereas a lot of people see that as a failure, I actually think it was pretty cool, but that’s not why I cast him. It was after seeing Gyllenhaal in Source Code , that I thought he would be epic in the role, partly as the film features a similar concept to Assassin’s Creed . Despite that though, Gyllenhaal actually looks a bit like Desmond and is naturally a very charming and charismatic guy and has a great wit to him; perfect attributes needed for the role. Another really great actor, and solid up and comer. Really enjoyed him in Bronson and the Take and Inception , and look forward to him as Bane in the Dark Knight Rises . Now, I know guys like Chris Bale or Sam Worthington (why Worthington? I will never know) are fan favourites, but end of the day they seem a bit off for the role. With Hardy, visually he could pass of as a relative of Gyllenhaal’s, but he’s also a very talented martial artist so would bring a lot of realism to the fight scenes. As a side note though, as Hardy is admittedly quite short, I’d expect for him to use lifts just to appear a bit taller and more imposing. He’s a pretty decent actor, enjoyed his work in the Lord of the Rings film series, and 300 , however it was mainly due to his visual similarity to the character and because of his work in Van Helsing that I cast him. Now, you may be thinking what the [frick]?!? But he essentially played the same character there, just camper and more comedic, so if he played it more seriously as he does with most of his other roles I’ve mentioned above, then he would be perfect in the role. I always figured instead of casting three different actors for Desmond, Altair and Ezio, they would cast one guy and shortly after he enters the Animus he sees himself in a reflection and asks why Altair looks exactly like him. They explain that he sees himself because he is reliving their memories through the animus but everyone else sees Altair or something like that.

Bela Lugosi as Dracula (1931)

Vampires loom big in Hollywood – from the silent era to the present day. Here are seven top vampire movies that no horror film fan or Halloween aficionado should ever miss. Crucifixes are now available in the lobby!

Dracula (Universal, 1931)

Based on the novel by Bram Stoker and the subsequent play by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, Dracula debuted at New York City’s Roxy Theater on February 12, 1931. Louis Bromfield, Max Cohen, Louis Stevens, Dudley Murphy and Tod Browning wrote the dark screenplay, with Browning also directing. The incomparable Bela Lugosi heads the cast as Count Dracula, with Helen Chandler (Mina Harker), David Manners (John Harker), Dwight Frye (Renfield), Edward Van Sloan (Professor Van Helsing), Herbert Bunston (Dr. Jack Seward) and Frances Dade (Lucy Weston) in chilling support.

Budgeted at 5,000, Dracula was filmed primarily at Universal Pictures in Hollywood, with additional shooting taking place in England and Agua Dulce, California. The great Lon Chaney Sr. (1883-1930) was producers’ first choice as Dracula, but his untimely death forced them to look elsewhere. Universal eventually settled on Bela Lugosi, who had played Dracula on the stage.

Despite its advanced age, Dracula remains the top vampire movie in the genre. Tod Browning’s atmospheric direction is nothing short of brilliant, with Bela Lugosi (and those piercing, hypnotic eyes) delivering a grand performance as the blood-sucking count from Transylvania. Also outstanding is Dwight Frye as Renfield, the young English solicitor who is driven insane by Dracula’s bite.

Nosferatu (Prana Film, 1922)

Nosferatu was first released in Berlin, Germany, on March 4, 1922. The movie later came to the United States on June 3, 1929, courtesy Film Arts Guild. Henrik Green wrote the screenplay based on an unauthorized adaptation of the 1897 Bram Stoker novel Dracula.

Directing the silent action was the German-born F.W. Murnau. Max Schreck heads the cast as Count Graf Orlok, with Gustav von Wangenheim (Thomas Hutter), Alexander Granach (Knock), Georg H. Schnell (Westenra), Ruth Landshoff (Lucy), John Gottowt (Professor Bulwer), Gustav Botz (Professor Sievers) and Max Nemetz (Kapitan der Demeter) in support.
