I have been searching for a new virus/spyware program..I have had Norton for years. And its good don’t get me wrong. But if you have problems it can cost a fortune to get customer support. The Shield Deluxe has top rating on 6Star Reviews. for everything i’m looking for plus free tech support. Any comments from users would be appreciated..thanks

Answer by Jordan Z Norton is terrible….mainly because when you get an update…it asks if you want to restart your computer…and gives you ok, cancel, and the X in the corner of the window…no matter what you click…it restarts your computer. sigh. I hate pushy software. Plus I have found that it causes more problems that it helps / prevents and I use the internet on a billion applications and it thinks everything is dangerous because it is accessing the internet…ok I’ll end my rant about norton.
I use AVG…mainly because i could care less about customer service….and it is free.
you can grab it from download.com and do a search for “AVG free”

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. http://www.ccleaner.com/
All are free.
**NOTE**: Only have one antivirus program and one firewall installed on your computer.
Well, Spyware Doctor is maybe the most famous anti-spware program. It has more than 250 million users. You can chek it here http://www.download.hr/windows/file/1796/Spyware-Doctor
AVG has excellent antivirus program too. Here is free edition with link for buying pro version http://www.download.hr/windows/file/13/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition
I have good opinion about BitDefender too: http://www.download.hr/windows/file/4583/BitDefender-Antivirus-Plus
My understanding is that Norton Anti-Virus is not all that great for individual PCs. But it’s also hard to remove from your PC. The way to go, from all I’ve heard, is AVG Free; I use it on both Windows 98 and Windows XP. I also use Mozilla Firefox Free. Besides these two programs, I use Spybot Search & Destroy, which is also free. Previously I’ve used Computer Associates (CA) Anti-Virus, which cost around $ $ 45/year. It was also pretty good; but you had to buy a new CD every year. I’ve not tried McAfee, nor do I know how much it costs; but I’m sure it is also good.
