Teach English for academic purposes using a variety of methods and instructional technology including daily use of Blackboard in a well established English foundation program whose aim is to improve students’ English proficiency to prepare them for the IELTS exam and undergraduate study in the English medium, U.S. accredited university; Teach University College English composition courses; Met course goals; Volunteered to pilot new textbook and SharePoint Focus Group; Serving on committees: Textbook Adoption and New Teacher Orientation Web Site; Proctored IELTS exams and UAE Ministry of Education CEPA English exams at Zayed University’s Test Center. Spring 2010: Taught 18 credits of ESL courses: ESL 13 Advanced Composition III (12 credits) and ESL 07 Oral Communication I (6 credits). Fall 2009: Taught 6 credits of ESL 13: Advanced Composition III; Planned and taught lessons on rhetorical patterns, sentence combining, and intermediate/advanced grammar; Modeled writing and used guided techniques to teach the writing process and peer editing of multiple drafts of academic writing; Planned interactive grammar and online activities; Assessed students using rubrics; Students self-assessed using Error Logs; Used Blackboard for communication, instruction, and practice; Excellent student evaluations: 4.5 out of 5. Taught High Intermediate Writing & Grammar and High Intermediate Listening to diverse group of international students including many Middle Eastern students; Developed course syllabi, pacing charts, and resources for courses; Utilized Blackboard and the Internet in instruction and listening practice; Utilized interactive small group activities; Integrated language skills; Incorporated authentic materials; Modeled the writing process and planned for guided writing to prepare students for academic writing; Utilized dialogue journals, note-taking strategies, peer conferencing / editing and grammar games; Advised students as needed; Met course goals. Co-taught ESL 13 Advanced Composition III as part of ODU TESOL practicum; Collaborated on lesson planning and assessment of students; Trained class on using Blackboard for communication, instruction, and practice; Planned interactive small group activities; Modeled writing and used guided techniques to teach the writing process; Taught students to peer conference/edit academic writing; Planned daily writing for fluency; Taught intermediate and advanced English grammar; Met course goals.
