Often times we parents worry too much about what our kids will turn out to be. Will they be successful in life? Will they become teachers, doctors, artists? Will they be good, honest people? Will they be good parents to their children?

Yes, we worry a lot thinking about the future of our kids and whether or not we've made a good job as parents; after all they are our little "projects of life." Raising them is pretty much where we invested most of our time and efforts once they were born, so it's just normal to worry about what the outcome will be.

Almost every night, as I lay down in bed, I review my actions for the day and think about if I made my children happy enough that particular day, if I was the mother that I really want to be, if I made the right calls or taught the right lessons. And that's when I start thinking about all those moments when I've doubted my "motherly" performance.

Any parent with more than one child knows about sibling fights. I thought that by having all girls I was going to get it easier - not really. My girls, ages 12, 8 and 7, have a different fight every day, for whatever reasons, they either picked on each other or they took stuff from each other. You name it, they'll fight for it. And that's when I question myself as a mother again: Am I doing something wrong with these girls? Am I not pointing out enough that family is about taking care and being nice to each other, not fighting with each other?

But then comes a day like the past Mother's Day, when we also celebrated my daughter's First Communion, and I watch her two sisters working hard on each other's room, spending more than one day making some beautiful hand-made very special First Communion cards for their sister. Yes, the very same one with whom they fight almost every single day.

Or a day like their birthdays, when each one of them make a birthday card to the other and decide to give as a present one of her favorite things - or that one her sister was always asking if she could borrow - and telling each other "you're my favorite sister, and even if we are away from each other in the future, you will always be my sister and I will love you forever."

Or a day like this past weekend, when we were at a theme park and my two younger ones decided to ride one of the attractions together, all by themselves, and the oldest one was taking care of the younger one, watching she was seated on the right spot, safe, checking that her seat belt was properly secured, holding her so she won't slip to the sides, etc. That's when I know that I must be doing a good job because I'm raising good caring loving kids, and everything it's going to be all right.
