AUGUSTA - Anyone interested in running for the office of district supervisor for the Kennebec County Soil and Water Conservation District should contact the district office at 21 Enterprise Drive, Suite 1, Augusta, or call 622-7847, ext. 3, for the nomination papers.

Appointment required 25 valid signatures and documents must be received by October 31.

A three-year term is available. Applicants must live within the Kennebec County Soil and Conservation District water.

AUGUSTA - The Maine Commission for Community Service will award 14 scholarships of $ 500 each to implement service projects semester.

Hallowell - The city has scheduled its annual fall cleaning for 11 to 23 October in the public works garage, 286 Water Street

City residents can dispose of bulky waste such as washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, carpets, mattresses, furniture, toys and other articles for free.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners or other equipment that uses freon as a refrigerant gas will not be accepted or tires, asphalt shingles or household waste.

Household hazardous waste and electronics such as computer monitors, televisions and fluorescent bulbs, so will not be accepted.

Hazardous waste and electronics are collected annually at regional events in which participating Hallowell, usually taking place in the spring, Augusta.

The city will staff the site accepting waste 7 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday during cleaning. Questions regarding the event should be directed to Public Works at 622-3993 or the City Manager's Office at 623-4021.

MANCHESTER - The Planning Board meets Tuesday to three proposals for conditional uses in the district of shoreline.

The three proposals for the area shores, according to the Code Enforcement Officer Paul Mitnik, Kerry Sue Walters is for the demolition and reconstruction of a residence on Sunset Drive, David and Evie Swan Keselica to build a garage on Bayview Shores road, and Brian Jones to build a shed on Williamson Road.
