Swansea's showCASE choir wins YouTube's Shaun Barrowes contest

The Joseph Case High School show choir, showCASE, has won the Live for Music contest with Shaun Barrowes for getting the most votes in a YouTube dance video it created in April.

Barrowes, a musician and former “American Idol” contestant, sponsored the contest with the Music Education National Coalition.

From a large field of submissions, he chose 30 song and dance videos from high schools across the country.

The competition ended on May 31. ShowCASE will receive a $10,000 award that it plans to use to purchase stage risers. Anything left over will fund costumes, recording equipment and other expenses.

Shaun Barrowes will fly to Massachusetts to hand-deliver the $10,000 check to the show choir sometime in July. Details are being finalized.

Swansea Superintendent Christine Stanton said showCASE winning the competition is “another great example of Case High School students following their passion successfully.” It shows a “total dedication and commitment of all involved in our show choir.”

The lively video features a large group of showCase students, dressed in jeans and black T-shirts, performing all the moves to Barrowes’ song “Army of Kings.
